CeBIT: Axinom develops new video player for online video store maxdome with Microsoft Silverlight

New frontend allows usage of video in HD quality and makes Germany´s largest online video store browser independent.

Axinom GmbH, leading ECM service provider and specialized in new technologies, develops on behalf of maxdome GmbH & Co, a joint venture of ProSiebenSat.1 Group and United Internet AG, a new, platform independent video frontend for Germany´s largest online video store maxdome. The new player will be launched in the second quarter of 2009.

The newest Microsoft Silverlight technology allows maxdome to offer selected titles in HD quality with „progressive download“. Further innovative features is the zooming functionality as well as the integrated recommendation logic. Moreover, the new Silverlight player allows users to view 18,000 titles with any current browser for the first time.

„The innovative frontend provides our widespread selection of videos with best usability to a broad audience and also allows maxdome to reach out to new target groups“, explains Markus Härtenstein, Head of Product Management & Programming at maxdome GmbH. „The decision for Axinom as service provider is based on our excellent experience in previous projects.“

The new player will be presented at the CeBIT by Microsoft for the first time.

Germany´s largest online video store maxdome is a joint venture of the ProSiebenSat.1 Group and United Internet AG and offers with more than 18,000 titles a huge selection of films, soaps, comedies, sports, music and cartoons. Users can retrieve videos individually or subscribe to specific offers on www.maxdome.de. As with DVDs they can watch their selection as many times as they like. The access to maxdome happens via any broadband internet connection either on PC or via a Set-Top-Box on a TV set.
